According to figures from the end of 2006, 24.7 million Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) units have been sold worldwide since its official Japan launch in December 2004. However, what makes the PSP unique as an example of new media technology, is the ability to play back music and video, access the internet via a wi-fi connection, work as a photo viewer and be expandable through software updates and new hardware add-ons. and as such there have been major developments in what the PSP can offer. The PSP is now a fully capable music player, playing various file formats including MP3, WMA and AAC files. The most exciting development for the PSP in recent months is the launch of the PSP camera, which clips onto the top of the console and connects to it via a USB connection. In the future it is thought Sony will develop a mega-pixel camera with web-cam capabilities. The video player has full DVD-like controls and can play MP4 files, which can be downloaded from video-sharing site Google Video or the PSP website for free. This allows for RSS feeds to be used for podcasts and news feeds, where you can download or stream audio and video wirelessly to the console. The vital piece of kit for any PSP console is any expandable memory. Sony developed the Universal Media Disk (UMD) exclusively for the PSP – All PSP games are only available on UMD discs, although it is likely that once the Playstation 3 has fully launched that PSP game downloads will be made available alongside PS3-PSP co-games (downloadable demo-versions of games have been available since Summer 2006). This has not been all that popular, considering that UMDs are more expensive than DVDs and do not offer bonus features (plus, using the right software, DVDs can be ripped to be made playable on a PSP for free). The website also, for computers, has a message board with a thriving community of PSP users who discuss games, downloadable content and news about the PSP in general. The PSP has also formed part of Sony’s attempt to break into the living room. The PSP works with the PS3 with a variety of special PS3-PSP co-games, and wirelessly links with the PS3 using the specialised Ad-hoc function on the PSP system.

Ok well despite all of the pessimistic crap and the model flip flopping, Jon M and I have decided to chase tommorow. Good luck to anyone else that chases tommorow and I look forward to seeing you on the road.

In fact, they had expected to use a homograft for her arterioplasty, assuming that scar tissue from the previous surgery would mean she had no pericardium (her own tissue) to make a patch. As Julie told us, it won’t make a difference in recovery or anything, but it’s always nice to use the child’s own tissue. We’ll see Dr. Backer in about 30 minutes and then go take a lunch break.
